One of Sydney’s institutions glass brasserie at the Hilton Sydney celebrates Sydney’s reopening with a new alfresco dining space on George Street. There is no better way to celebrate my first ‘outing’ after being in a pandemic lockdown for four months. I nearly forgot how liberating it is to dine out.

All food and drinks are curated by Luke Mangan’s glass brasserie. We had rosé champagne and charcuterie to start, a delectable platter of charcuterie meats served with two glasses of chilled Moët & Chandon Rosé Imperial (priced at $60).

The lunch menu, running from 12:00pm to 2:30pm, features a selection of summer dishes including Luke Mangan’s quiche Lorraine with mixed leaves and fennel salad, his chicken liver parfait with pear and eshallot relish and grilled sourdough, and a roasted pumpkin bowl with poached egg, falafels, kale salad, hummus, and dukkah. We ordered the pan fried fish of the day served with beans, the wagyu burger and I was craving for Luke Mangan’s famous parmesan and truffle fries so ordered a side of them.

In the afternoons from 2:30pm to 7:00pm, guests can indulge in a selection of share plates with their champagne including oysters, lamb gozleme with labna and avjar, falafels with babaganoush and pomegranate as well as mushroom arancini with truffle.

Guests will also be able to enjoy cocktails including a fresh and sparkling Lychee Bliss – made from lychee liqueur, elderflower, lime and sparkling wine – or The Australian by Luke Mangan, a concoction of Martell VSOP cognac, gin, Cointreau, kaffir lime, ginger and cranberry. Wines, beers and spirits will also be on offer.

This is a perfect place to stop for a bite to eat or drink if you are a bit over online shopping for Christmas and want to venture out into the Sydney CBD. It’s great to see the City of Sydney evolve post pandemic into the alfresco dining space. Can’t wait to head back soon!
