Gathar Supper Club: dine-in experience

July 26, 2020 by Jenny

What Gathar offers is catering re imagined. I had the pleasure of being invited to Gathar’s Supper Club last night to taste and experience their Xmas in July Menu. So this is not the typical ‘event’ where I would ordinarily get dressed, put on my heels and go out for dinner and listen to a band. This is an experience fit for the current social distancing times and that experience will come to you in your home. Get dressed if you like or just wear your PJ’s because regardless of what you wear you will get a fine dining dinner experience at home with Gathar …

Last night’s home delivery was a next level dining experience I have to say. A novelty. Around 2-4pm your dinner pack of fine dining dishes arrive for you to keep in the fridge until 6.00-630pm. The meals were:

Entrée: Cured kingfish, black grape, shiso and finger lime with matching wines (in these cute catering sized cups) Chardonnay

Mains: Turkey roulade, roasted parsnip puree, heirloom carots, kale and marmalade jus. Served with sourdough bread and whipped butter. Wine pariing: Merlot

Dessert: Fancy Xmas plum pudding, brandy custard, confit red currents and micro mint. Wine pairing moscato.

Around 6.15pm you start to plate and heat up your food, pour the wine and tune into the provided link to YouTube Live where you are graced with the beautiful vocals of a live band and you can make special song requests by just typing it in the chat box. You’re given a list of songs you can request for the vocalists to sing.  The food, which was all restaurant quality and matching wines, was catered for by The Fresh Collective for Sydney and Brisbane with Fresh Executive Chef Jason Burrows behind the menu.

WIth the current crazy times we’re in, I don’t know about you, but I think this is a great idea because people feel safer dining in the comfort of the their own home than going out during the current global pandemic. If an entertaining interactive experience accompanied by a great food and wine can be created in people’s homes, then that would be great option to try particular if there is a special event you need to celebrate.

If you don’t want to cook at home, and need to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion, then let Gathar, a dynamic new food-tech startup sort your next at home dining experience out. They’re doing my next birthday event!
