As the lift stopped on Level 36 of the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney today I stepped into the Blu Bar, natural light streaming in on a glorious Saturday, you cannot help but look out the enormous glass windows and expansiveness of Sydney Harbour with unrivalled views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, before your eyes are drawn to the decadent array of savouries and sweets from the only High Tea Buffet experience in the skies in Sydney. Looking around there were groups of ladies enjoying the afternoon sipping eat and eating cake created by Anna Polyviou and couples who were enjoying some quiet time in each other’s company.
July has been a wonderful month for Sydney hotels as they have had some memorable food offerings and events. I like the high tea experiences as you can to try a little bit of everything particularly if it is offered in a buffet style where you can load up on the savouries or load up on the sweets if you are more the sweet tooth. With natural light, food and unrivalled views of our Sydney Harbour, it had everything going for it for that perfect shot with my Canon 6D Mark II.
The Blu Bar where the High Tea bufet is served a small room so it won’t get overcrowded and there are two session times you can sit in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 11.30am or 1.45pm for two hours. It’s $75 pp on Friday and Saturday and $95 on Sun. If you want champagne, it is an additional $15. This is a High Tea experience that is worth trying. I tried everything that was savoury first and the colourful cucumber sandwiches and sliders were my favourite. For more information, go to their website.
