Curation of things you can "see, taste and do"

Travel Diary :: Nashdale Lane Luxury Glamping Tents in Orange, NSW

May 7, 2018 by Jenny

I must admit, I’ve never ‘roughed it’ and been camping or pitched a tent. It’s just something my family never did when I was younger. My perception of camping has only been influenced by what I have seen on television: falling asleep under the stars, leaking tents, campfire pits, creatures in tents, sleeping on bumpy ground.

Not Nashdale Lane glamping tents which I recently experienced when I headed over to Orange for Orange F.O.O.D week where I experienced the tranquility of the countryside. I’ve always wanted to experience the glamping style safari tents you see in brochures when travelling to Africa and this is a little more closer to home. You can have all your creature comforts (without the creatures), pre-pitched luxurious tents, with a kitchenette with locally made muesli and milk, sofa, shower, bath towels, toiletries and toilet, and a cushy canopy bed with extra woollen blankets, and electricity and even a little library. You felt connected with the earth and nature but in a private, cosy and indulgent setting. It was true bliss.

One of the highlights for me was that just before I drifted off to sleep I heard the thumping sounds of rabbits running for their lives away from foxes and dogs; the bleating of sheep and the mooing of cows and then woke 10 hours later from a deep and peaceful slumber. It was the best sleep I’ve had in ages.

Nashdale Lane Wines and Luxury Glamping Cabins are run by the lovely, well travelled couple, Nick and Tanya (Ryan) Segger who manage their majestic 55-acre vineyard, glamping accommodation and soon to open onsite cellar door. Tanya and Nick have thought a lot about the most luxurious accommodation that is best suited to the beauty of their stunning vineyard and one that also creates a distinctly Australian getaway travel experience. They loved the light, carbon-neutral footprint and the natural, immersive experience of camping but also didn’t want to forgo any home comforts expected of high end accommodation. Not only are they passionate about offering a boutique and luxurious accommodation stay on their vineyards, but they are passionate about making premium cool climate wines in small, limited quantities.

Orange is a wonderful place to visit for a long weekend away, an elegant regional town. You can read my blog of what to see, taste and do in Orange in Central West NSW when you go down, and you should go down. It was something different and a wonderful and refreshing getaway.
