On location press coverage: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016 :: Maticevski Runway, Barangaroo Sydney Jacket: Designer Damir Doma in Black, from Bruce, Gertrude St, Melbourne |
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016 this time was held in May instead of April to ensure Australian fashion designers are aligned with the international buying cycles. Our Canon DLSRs worked over time during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australian 2016 including the Red Carpet on Day 1 of fashion week that opened with Maticevski’s Resort 17 on the runway at The Cutaway in Barangaroo Sydney. I also filmed the runway so you can see movement in Maticevski’s latest designs and you can check that out on my blog’s Instagram.
I’ve always known Maticevski’s collection as understated, clean lines, structured contours and drapes creating feminine silhouettes. I remember the collection he designed for Sydney Dance Company performers last year. Maticevski’s Resort 17 collection is expressed through airy volumes that suspend dream like gowns and skirts. The glossy stage set against the white washed walls complemented Maticevski’s Resort 17 collection and the show was quite a spectacle and had atmosphere. The opening and closing runway shows always has a way to turn up the energy volumes up a notch.
Wearable art, this is a beautiful collection to open the runways at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2017.
Here are our fashion photography and a few outfits that caught my eye on Maticevski’s runway. Also we took some shots of and with some familiar celebrities. Enjoy!
