Style Diary :: Chinese New Year #ootd & what 2016 has in store for you …

February 6, 2016 by Jenny

We are at the eve of Chinese New Year which starts on February 8 for the start of the Year of the Fire Monkey until January 27, 2017 and with the Fire Monkey the Chinese lucky colour is not surprisingly symbolised by the colour Red. Be sure to celebrate big before the New Year to bring you good luck, good health and prosperity for the New Year! Many delicious shared plates is how my family and friends celebrate. And for a bit of fun, don’t forget to check out your Chinese horoscope for 2016 below. Kung Hei Fat Choi and may 2016 Year of the Monkey bring you good health, prosperity and much happiness.

I love the contrast of black and red colours in fashion, creating a powerful colour scheme that even without being of Asian descent, you know the colours bring a balanced powerful energy symbolising vigour, positivity, prosperity, and luck.

Today’s outfit of the day is …

Bag: Tod’s Red Double T-Bag which is made of a beautiful soft suede that comfortably sits across my shoulders. The straps are also removable if you wish to use it as a clutch instead for an evening look.

Dress: Wish Australia’s playful Kat Dress with adjustable straps (very handy), wrapped front bodice panels with delicate eyelash lace along the neckline and a cheeky slit through back of skirt.

And of course embellished with Tods lucky money red packets!

For a bit of fun I like to read up my Chinese horoscope (I’m a Dragon lady) for the New Year by Sunsigns. Know your Chinese Animal and look to see what the Year of the Fire Monkey holds for you.
