Curation of things you can "see, taste and do"

Blanc de Blanc & Summer Playground at Sydney Opera House

January 8, 2016 by Jenny

Non Je Ne Regrette Rien … No, I regret nothing. This is just some well-known French music you have heard before in commercials that will ring in your ears at the Blanc de Blanc performance now showing at the Sydney Opera House 07 January 2016– 28 February 2016. And what a spectacle!

I was fortunate to be invited to Blanc de Blanc last night to view the performance and it’s one of those performances where you walk in with no expectations and come out with a “Wow, what a highly entertaining performance!”

The performance is like The Blue Man Group cross the movie Burlesque with a lot more naughty bits as the night went on, ensuring the evening moves by quickly. Wink, wink.

Ladies, if you have partners who fall asleep in musicals then I assure you they will awaken and will remain eye wide open for the rest of the night.

Blanc de Blanc, a Strut & Fret Production serves a blend of seductive, vintage glamour, high-end spectacle and titillating acts to infatuate, illuminate and delight. There is cabaret, acrobatic talent, comedy, lots of skin, some nudity and lots of ‘OMG!’ You think you have seen the French pour champagne? You have seen nothing yet until you see this show.

It was a small intimate audience as the performance was held in the Studio of the Sydney Opera House, so a lot of audience interaction that gets everyone on the floor, howling and banging the fists on the table, roaring with laughter.

Like any stage performance I’ve experienced both on an off stage, the music choice is critical I think to extract the energy out of the performers, so as to bring the energy out of the crowd. The music choice in this performance was excellent and flowed, leaving the audiene singing along to lyrics they know for one of the acts.

Before the performance, you can chill at the foodie & family Summer Playground: Salsedine. Named after the Italian saying for “that salty cool post-beach feeling” on your skin, Salsedine is an eatery retreat that brings the passion of Riviera Italy to Sydney. With a menu designed Chef Lauren Murdoch, taking up the legacy of outdoor Sydney Opera House fiestas from El Loco to The Corner House it’s a great pop up venue to head on over to this January only.

It was a night of unexpected lavish laughs, so immersive and naughty fun. This is a performance that awakens. Je adore cette performance de cabaret!

I’ll leave you with some photography from the evening. Special mention to Australian fashion label, Kitten D’Armour for dressing me in vintage glamour last night in a classic passionate red and black, with the D’Amour timeless draped cowl top; D’Amour lace fishtail skirt; Gogo Shoes; and Bow Belt.
